Celebrity Brides – Inspiration for Brides-to-be!

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Celebrities and their dresses, be it on the red carpet, on-screen, or in personal life, have always inspired many girls. And brides-to-be are no exception! I dedicate this blog especially to all those brides-to-be who keep a close eye on what their favourite celebrities are wearing at their wedding, to get ideas for their own wedding dress.

Here is a glimpse at some of the best-dressed celebrity brides, whose dresses were truly captivating.

Elizabeth TaylorFirst on my list is none other than Elizabeth Taylor on her first trip (out of seven) down the aisle with hotel heir Conrad “Nicky” Hilton. She chose to wear a basque-waisted gown, which was absolutely stunning.

Lady DianaLady Diana Spencer, with her gorgeous puff-sleeved, ruffled, silk taffeta gown, beautifully decorated with lace, embroidery, sequins, and around 10,000 tiny pearls, became the idol for many brides during the 1980’s.

Marilyn MonroeWho can forget the utterly timeless demure dark brown suit worn by silver screen siren Marilyn Monroe for her wedding ceremony to baseball star Joe DiMaggio? Embellished with an ermine collar and accented with a dainty corsage of white orchids, the dress was certainly unique. Though not a typical white wedding gown, Marilyn Monroe’s attire can definitely be termed as elegance at its best!

Gwen Stephani

Coming to more recent times, singer Gwen Stefani’s dazzling dip-dyed silk faille Christian Dior gown designed by John Galliano, for her marriage to rocker Gavin Rossdale in 2002, managed to capture every woman’s fantasy!

Katie HolmesKatie Holmes’s off-shoulder Armani dress that she wore for her Italian wedding to the handsome Hollywood hunk, Tom Cruise, can be rightly called a true dream dress! Embellished with Swarovski crystals, complemented with a silk train, and topped with a floor length veil made of ivory tulle, this dress is the epitome of class.

I have just touched the tip of the iceberg. There are many other celebrity brides, whose sweet, sophisticated wedding dresses will provide inspiration to all women who look up to celebrities for ideas!

Seasonal brides, go unconventional with your wedding dresses!

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

He proposed to me, he proposed with a diamond ring. I started crying, he placed it on my finger and I said yes. Yes, Kelly Price it is. But then some of us have experienced this.

So, you found the perfect guy, your dream mate. Now, everyone around you (friends and family) is hearing wedding bells. You want the wedding bells too but the question is when. I read somewhere that there is a season for every bride and a bride for every season. So what do you want? A bright summer wedding, a fairytale while wedding, a bright spring wedding or a romantic fall wedding!

Each season brings its own hues, and women want to drape themselves in these hot colors and be one with nature. Let’s check out some hot and pretty dresses for brides for each season.

Summer wedding dresses

Hmmm….Summer…. Bright sun, warm breezes, Balmy evenings! A great time to wed. Summer brides have an array of colors to choose from, lemon, azure, cherry and of course, the traditional white. Get gowns with thin straps or in off shoulder style to set off your tan. Choose fabrics that are lightweight and sheer, such as organdy, linen, chiffon, crepe, georgette, and silk. Summer is the perfect time to wear short wedding dresses, especially if you wanna look hotter than the weather.

Spring wedding dresses

Spring heralds new beginnings. It’s a perfect time to step into a new life. Spring brides can look for pretty gowns in pink, lavender, light green, and soft yellow. The weather is perfect to bare a little skin. Go for long flowing skirts with sleeveless, strapless, spaghetti-strapped, or halter top style dresses. Wear a look that is prettier than the prettiest spring flower.

Autumn wedding dresses

Autumn is the new spring. Rich yellows, orange, copper, claret, and russet will look great on autumn brides. You can go for a strapless or full- sleeve gown.

Winter wedding dresses

A white wedding is a fairytale wedding. Warm up the atmosphere with your stunning bridal wear. No, you need not stick to the traditional white, invent your own personal style. Choose a gown in deep rich red or dark green. Dark hues will be a stark contrast to the snowy landscape. If you are not fond of bold colors, go for pale blue, lavender or even silver gowns. Design your wedding dress in rich satins and thick velvets with gold or silver embroidery. Fur trim on sleeves and neckline, long trains, opera length gloves, options are many for the winter bride.

Hot Wedding Trends for Spring 2009

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

If you are all set to get hitched in Spring 2009, why not do it with a dramatic flair. We all know that the most important aspect of a perfect wedding, right after finding the Perfect Guy, of course, is to choose the perfect wedding gown. A dress that looks chic, figure-flattering, and makes you look like the star of the day (which you are, of course!!). It is definitely not easy to zero-in on your perfect dress (an understatement)!! You have a thousand little pretty details floating in your head, which all needs to fall in place and come out as an exquisite wedding gown. Traditional wedding gowns are so passe. Be an unconventional bride and you’re sure to have a much-talked about wedding! Here are a few hot wedding dress trends.

Hike up the hemline: Wear a short dress to look ultra chic and modern. Shorter wedding dresses have fitted bodices with full skirts that stop at or just above the knee. Many are strapless or have thin spaghetti straps. These dresses will be perfect for a casual, outdoor wedding and if you have the figure to carry them off.

It’s all in the detailing: Think pretty bows, flowers accents, crystal beaded bodices, and intricate lace.

Romantic ruffles: Perfect for the romantic bride. Look out for tiers of organza, tulle, feathers, or chiffon.

Two Tone Dresses: Choose a two-tone dress that has a subtle contrast, making them look special and unique. It may be something as simple as a colored sash or even complex like a layered dress.

Add a splash of color: Everything from racy red to cool blue and royal purple.
